This daily fact blog is a class project for Africana Studies 187: The History of Women and Men of African Descent at the University of Pennsylvania. Our purpose is to distribute some of the rich facts and stories about the University of Pennsylvania’s Black History to raise awareness and spark discussion, both on and off campus. Ultimately, the goal of the course is to gain a greater appreciation of our contemporary moment and envision our future responsibilities, using the past as a critical guide and holder of vast wisdom.

Thank you to the University of Pennsylvania Archives and Records, Makuu: The Black Cultural Center, the Office of the Chaplain, The Center for Africana Studies, and the Vice Provost of University Life for making this project possible.
