Georgette Chapman Phillips

Professor Georgette Chapman Phillips is Vice Dean of the Wharton School and Director of the Undergraduate Division. She was appointed the David B. Ford Professor of Real Estate in 2003 in the Wharton School. From 2003-2007 she served as Chairperson of the Real Estate Department.  In addition to teaching real estate classes she is also a Penn Law Professor, and was previously an academic visitor at the London School of Economics.

Her areas of research are real estate law, urban and regional planning, housing, and real estate transactions. She was named as the Ballard Research Scholar at the Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center at the Wharton School. Professor Phillips lectures internationally on commercial real estate and urban planning. She is a contributing editor of the Real Estate Law Journal and serves on the Editorial Board of The Practical real Estate Lawyer.

Professor Phillips earned her B.A. from Bryn Mawr in 1981 and her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1985.  Prior to joining the Penn faculty, she was in private law practice in New York and Philadelphia.
