Dr. Janice Curington

Dr. Janice Curington is the Assistant Dean for Multicultural Affairs and Advising and a Study Abroad Advisor. Dr. Curington has a Master’s in English from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. from Penn’s Graduate School of Education, focusing on educational anthropology. She coordinates grants and programs designed to place and retain underrepresented minority students. She advises all students as the College liaison for the Pre-Freshman program. Additionally, she is the College Liaison for Study Abroad Programs, with a special interest in Africa.

For over 20 years, Dr. Curington has been a supporter of minority students at Penn in many ways. Whether contributing to UMOJA’s legacy or advocating for a higher black student retention rate, Dr. Curington continues to prove how diverse faculty at Penn is beneficial for higher learning.

Dr. Curington has after hours every day at the College Office where she not only advises students on academics, but also serves as a mentor to all.
