Patricia C. Williams

February 10, 2013

Patricia “Ms. Trish” Williams was an English B.A. and Liberal Studies M.A. scholar at Fordham University. The New York native has had an extensive and revered career in academia and college administration. Williams is now the well-known and respected dean of W.E.B. Du Bois College House. She is also a doctoral student at Penn’s Graduate School of Education, conducting research on McCarthyism and the successes of non-traditional Black female students.

Williams’ has served as an academic leader throughout the east coast since the late 1980s. She was the Managing Editor of Umoja News, the Director of Student Services at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law of Yeshiva University, the Coordinator of Academic Budgets and Records in the Office of the Academic Vice President at Fordham University in New York. In addition, Ms. Trish has taught undergraduate English courses at Fordham, tutored and taught in the New York Public Library’s Literacy Program, and lectured at the Graduate School of Education here at Penn.

In her leisure, you can find Ms. Trish writing poetry on black issues or raising her grandson, Hasani, on the second floor of Du Bois.  Unlike many other college house deans around campus, Patricia Williams enjoys being able to cook for all of her residents for many unique, cultural, and traditional events that continue to draw many students campus wide to the highly popular Multipurpose Room of Du Bois College House.
